Kate Mallek

Director of Development

Kate Mallek (she/her) is the director of development for Environmental Health Sciences, which publishes Environmental Health News.

She began her career in public lands and conservation, worked for many years in technical writing and editing, has managed successful political campaigns, and served in development and research capacities for nonprofit organizations in Virginia and California.

Kate is a proud member of a multi-generational farm family and is intimately aware of many current challenges facing small farms. She is a strong advocate for preserving biodiversity and our planet for future generations. Rooted in her own exposures and reactions to various hazards, Kate has specific interest in chemical and hazmat pollution, healthy product choices, and precaution and prevention as priorities.

She serves on several boards, including Wild Virginia, which focuses on PFAS water pollution, habitat connectivity, and stopping fracked gas pipelines.
